The Future Youth Zone, Barking and Dagenham

HL were appointed as the civil and structural consultant engineers for this project in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

 

The project for charity OnSide involves construction of a new youth facility housing a new long spanning sports hall, boxing gym, MUGA pitch, dance studio and gymnasium for the young people of Barking and Dagenham.   The Future facility is part of the Youth Zone Network which is designed to provide a safe environment for young people to enjoy leisure activities to encourage a generation to raise their aspirations; increase their confidence; and improve their physical and mental health.

 

A braced steel frame is proposed for this project founded on traditional RC pads and strips. The building drawing package was produced in 3D using Autodesk Revit, this enabled the steel fabricator to develop their design quickly and efficiently to enable the contractor to have a quick start on site.
