Manchester Youth Zone East

HL were appointed as the Structural & Civil Engineers to deliver this £6million project, located in Gorton, East Manchester.  The Manchester Youth Zone East project is designed to provide young people with opportunities to constructively use their leisure time in a safe environment, to build aspirations and raise confidence, in an area with high unemployment.

 

Facilities include a full-sized sports hall, an 8metre climbing wall, 3G outdoor sports pitch, dance studio, music and media suites, theatre, arts room, boxing gym, fitness suite, sensory room and café and is funded by Charity organisation OnSide.

 

Due to the unique shape of the site the building has distinctive geometry to maximise the usable area for the building.  The building also features an overhanging second storey at the front entrance.  HL worked closely with the architect to provide an economical solution for the building stability system without compromising on the striking aesthetics.

 

This project was completed in early 2020.
