Inspire Youth Zone, Chorley

HL were appointed as the civil and structural engineer to deliver the design for this new purpose built youth club for the young people of Chorley.

The new building is based on the model developed by charity Onside, and includes a sports hall, boxing gym, MUGA pitch, dance studio, and gymnasium amongst other facilities. The centre will have huge benefits for the young people of Chorley and will provide a safe and inspiring place for them to go in their spare time.

The building is located on a constrained town centre site with adjoining existing structures. Below the superstructure a MUGA pitch is accommodated within the basement. By working closely with the project team from the outset HL  Structural Engineers have been able to maximise available internal floor area, minimise risk and deliver an architecturally striking building.

The structure has been modelled in 3D using Autodesk Revit.  This has allowed the design to be prepared to a tight programme in spite of the relatively complex geometry of the structure.
