Legacy Youth Zone, Croydon

HL Structural Engineers were appointed as the civil and structural engineers to deliver the design for this new purpose built youth club for the young people of Croydon.

The new building is based on the model developed by charity Onside Youth Zones, and includes a sports hall, boxing gym, MUGA pitch, dance studio, and gymnasium amongst other facilities.

The foundations for this steel framed building have been designed to minimise the impact to existing trees on the site and to ensure the building fits well in its parkland setting to the south of the Whitehorse Road Recreation Ground.

The design of the building has been developed using a fully coordinated BIM Revit model The use of BIM on this project allowed the contractor to make a quick start on site post tender and move ahead of their construction programme.
