BBG Academy, West Yorkshire

HL were appointed as the project Structural and Civil Engineers for the project to build a new extension to Birkenshaw's BBG academy.

The new facility includes 12 new classrooms for a range of subjects, and reconfigured dining room which extends into the existing building and additional external areas.

The superstructure is constructed from a steel frame with precast concrete floors. This solution allowed for an accelerated construction programme, which was important on this live campus.

The project was fully coordinated in 3D using AutoDesk Revit using 3D models from the Architect and Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. This allowed for a very slim floor and service zone, allowing the client to minimise overall cladding costs.

This project was completed in 2020.
