Maybel Tylecote Building, Manchester

HL Structural Engineers worked with Gardiner & Theobald to provide specialist structural engineering input relating to the retention of the historic Grade II Listed stone façade of the Manchester Metropolitan University’s Mabel Tylecote Building.

The retention works were completed as part of a package of demolition works to the 1970’s portion of the building and preceded the construction of a new Arts and Media university facility.

HL completed an options appraisal for structural interventions to be completed in the temporary and permanent conditions and provided advice in relation to cost, buildability and listed building consent.

Working with G&T, HL assisted in resolving sequencing and interface details between the separate contractors completing the demolition and permanent works packages.
