India Buildings, Liverpool

HL were appointed to undertake a structural condition survey of the external elevations of the iconic Grade II* listed building on Water Street, Liverpool prior to a full renovation of the entire building.

The building was originally built between 1924-32 and features offices, an internal shopping arcade and an entrance to an underground station.

Access to the façades in the busy city centre required overnight road closures and access using a 50 tonne truck mounted working platform. HL worked with main contractor Styles and Wood and SEP Surveys Ltd. to programme the surveys to minimise disruption to local businesses.

The £38million refurbishment and fit out across 350,000 sq ft of commerical space will include remedial work and façade repairs, and will be the new base for HMRC Merseyside.
