British Queen Public House, South East London

HL were the appointed structural engineers for this development of 1-bed and 2-bed apartments on the site of the former British Queen Public House in Camberwell, South-East London.

The concrete framed building is arranged over five storeys and utilises flat slabs. Further accommodation is provided within a steel framed mansard roof.

To maximise the lettable areas the design incorporates a cantilevered slab edge at the upper floors and meets the guidance set out in the London Plan through the provision of cantilevered balconies to each apartment.

The use of flat slabs allowed the Contractor to accelerate the construction programme and also allowed for uninhibited and flexible services distribution.

HL Engineers were also responsible for all RC detailing on the scheme.
